Now she is no longer front and center in reception because her interest in the pharmacy area of our practice where she continues to shine as well as she did at the front desk! When Victoria has a day off things just are not the same with out her. She has an amazing ability to "keep the flow moving" in her department by anticipating the needs of her co-workers. • Tanya Citron

    /Images/ViewImage.aspx?maxHeight=150&Id=64882

Tanya started working at Cairo Animal Hospital in 2004. This is her first time working specifically with animals. While Tanya has obtained a vast amount of knowledge in the past 5 years, she has found her niche in the Labratory Department of our practice. She is very efficient, well-knowledged and meticulous about this position. Her previous experience as an Israeli Airforce medic has certainly proved to be a positive influence in implementing these qualities. She also handles the medical billing for pet insurance claims, which is a huge responsibilty, a lot of tedious work and certainly helps not only the practice but the clients as well! If you have any questions regarding your pet's insurance, Tanya is your girl. When Tanya is not working she attends classes in the human medicine side of hospital insurance billing, loves to eat out, goes to concerts, attends sporting events and throws parties regularly, often for no other reason than to gather her friends and family. Tanya lives with her husband Jon and their two dogs Koka and Troy. View

    /Images/ViewImage.aspx?maxHeight=150&Id=64060

ViewJulia has been employed at Cairo for a short time but has already proved invaluable. She is a bright girl who attended Emory and graduated with a degree in history and African studies in 2008. She grew up in both Washington D.C. and at age 10 moved to Atlanta. During high school and college she made extra funds by dog walking and pet sitting. As a child she wanted to be a veterinarian but changed her mind when she attended a visit to the vet with her own dog and witnessed a blood draw and needles and found that to be frightening. She has managed to overcome that fear and now helps out in various areas of our hospital and is strongly considering a future in the veterinary field. Although she has not yet made a choice on being a tech or a veterinarian she has promised to stay with us in the meantime. Julia's previous employment was at her church where her duties included directing communications, administrative, camp, and child care. While that was a good job and kept her busy she decided she needed a change of scenery, packed up her car and moved to Chicago. She left behind her parents, a sister and their family pets, Phoebe, a mutt and Zooey a flat coat/lab mix. Julia's hobbies include cooking/baking, playing the piano and softball, and avidly reads.

ViewPaula has been with Cairo Animal Hospital since 1992!!!! Paula has known as early as grade school that she has wanted to work with animals. In high school she took advanced math and science classes as well as pre-vet classes. From there she went to obtain her degree as a certified veterinary technician from Parkland College in Champaign, IL, in 1984 and has been working in the industry ever since. In 2002 she became interested in pain management, mostly for horses, through massage. She educated herself by attending classes and became a registered professional member of International Association of Massage and Bodywork. Not long after she started "Equine Comforts" for horses in need of attention via bodywork. Her modalities include massage and "reiki" techniques incorporating essential oils as necessary. While this endeavor started as an equine interest she also provides her services, in our practice or in home for canines in need of rehabilitation or for chronically afflicted pets. Paula's role in our hospital is one of many hats. She handles inventory, is a team leader, a product liason for new products, conducts our staff meetings, handles HR and helps out in a technician's role as needed. While Paula's hobbies are her horses, Megan-the perfect horse, Maddie, and Lily she also manages to care for her six dogs, Decon, JoDee, Homer, Cockroach, Bella and Mookie, two cats, Bailen and Dick, and an entire farm that is home to bunnies, chickens and a goat, Robin and of course her daughter, Shania!

Kim Burrus has been with Cairo Animal Hospital since February of 2007 and serves as the hospital's administrator. She brings to the table 20 plus years of customer service working exclusively in the north shore area. Her job description includes anything from helping at the front desk, pharmacy, inventory, client service, accounts receiveable/payable, human resourses and all around keeping order within the Cairo Animal Hospital walls. The things that she likes most about her position is the diversity that it offers as her attention to detail often comes in handy. She has always been a fan of the hospital as she was formerly a client since 1993. Her greatest achievement within the practice was consulting in the constuction of our new building (which took 2 1/2 years) which she spent a tremendous amount of time making sure that the facility was beyond funtionality as well as esthetically pleasing. Kim's hobbies include cooking (which the staff appreciates), reading, shopping, shoes, and snuggling with her three dogs, Sam, Tanque, and Princess Chloe. Jennifer (J.T.), began working in our practice in February of 2005. She was hired as a veterinary technician based on her previous experience at various other hospitals, where her path in the veterinary field began in 1998. But this is no longer her "real job" as she is a high school science (biology and chemistry) teacher! Fortunately for us she likes her job enough to help out year round on Saturdays and comes back during her summer hiatus from school and works full-time. J.T.'s loves are her own animals of which she has many...her horse, Gem, two boston terriers named Rex and Taylor and her three felines, Colin, Liam, and Keira.
